Donglin Shen's research focus area is LTE/LTE-A and 5G radio access network (RAN) technologies and services including centralized RAN (C-RAN), Carrier Aggregation, VoLTE, and LTE Broadcast. In addition, his coverage included core network technologies including self optimized networks (SON), software defined networks (SDN) and network function virtualization (NFV).
Before joining EJL Wireless Research as a Contributing Analyst/Consultant, Mr. Shen was the Vice President/Chief Technology Officer, Strategic Planning for ZTE where his responsibilities included wireless R&D activities (GSM/EDGE, WiMAX, W-CDMA/HSPA, LTE, VoLTE, WiFi & small cells), direct mobile operator business development and technical proposals, NGMN technical development, and IPR evaluation and licensing.
Prior to this, Mr. Shen a member of the Senior Technical Staff at AT&T Wireless. Mr. Shen’s focus included 3GPP standards development on Iur-g interface, UMTS1800/1900 specifications and A-GPS specifications. He also was responsible for technology and vendor management for W-CDMA/HSPA technology supporting AT&T Wireless. In addition, Mr. Shen has held senior technical positions at Metawave Communications and Nortel Networks.
Mr. Shen holds a M.S. in electrical engineering from the University of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada and a B.S. in electrical engineering from Northeast University (东北大学), Shenyang, China. He also attended Graduate School at the University of Science and Technology of China (中国科技大学北京研究生院), Beijing, China. Mr. Shen also has been awarded three patents.
